So this is how it has come...

Another Hoyt blogger.

Yes. But, bear in mind, my readers, that I intend to delve into new depths and blaze new paths in the science of blogging.

Perhaps, several from my family will recall that I had often talked about getting a blog. They will also recall that I intended to use it for different purposes (different, that is, than what everybody else in my family has used it for). Yes, what is the good of running a blog, when you can't use it for discussion...

argument...

intellectual exploration...

and yes, everyone's favorite... propaganda.

  1. Speaking of discussion, let's talk about your blog template. Are we going for pointillism or what?

  2. It's a work in progress. I can't say that I am altogether pleased with it, but until I figure out how to make changes in the actual template code, it will have to do for now.

  3. Wordpress is a thousand times better for customization. If you have your own hosting you can find tons of themes and with coding knowledge tweak them how you want them to be. But you have to pay for the hosting, obviously.

  4. Yes, I wanted Wordpress. But web servers were the sticking point. Not that I even thought of the cost; I am sure you can find free space out there.

I did not want to go that route, and I could not reliably set up my own web server.

  5. I believe one can customize Blogger, too. There may be a link if you google it.

  6. Several things:

    1) Wordpress offers free service on their site (and also allows you to pay for extra frills)

    2) If you decide that you would like to pursue this sort of thing at greater length, I'm pretty sure we could put you up at shadowcouncil.org.

    3) Even if you're sticking with blogger and even if you don't really want to hassle with customizing the stylesheets or hacking the html, surely you could work up something less visually abrasive than this.

  7. I don't know, Derek... I would stick with the points for now, if it's generating this much discussion. Isn't that what you want on your blog?

Welcome to the blog world, it's great to have you!

  8. I would like to say that my reference to pointillism was not meant as a criticism but rather a query into whether it represented a philosophical statement or perhaps, a secret code concerning The New World Order.

Also, in keeping with your love of all things baroque, one must ask the question, What would Bach do?"

  9. My eyes! My eyes! They're burning!

You've got to do something about the colors/background...

  10. For the amount of contention it has already received, I am tempted to just keep the template the way it is, out of stubborn spite.

Obviously, I should never have opened this thing up until I had every detail in order (never mind that these visual details are rather unimportant in the short run)...

    WWBD? Oh boy...

  11. I'm pretty sure Bach wouldn't go with the Larry King Live backdrop, but that's just a theory.

  12. It does look kinda theoretical, though.

Do not be badgered, Derek. Keep it. I MEAN it now...it's just fine!

DO YOU HEAR ME, YOUNG MAN?!?!

(actually, I'm staring to like it. I may even change mine...I mean ours...I mean mine)
